Learning for Life Programme (LLP)
In GMS(P) Environment Education (Learning for Life, LLP) it is our belief that every staff and student can be an Earth Warrior by Respecting, Loving and Serving the Earth that God has created through practising the 4Rs.
The themes and the objectives of Environmental Education as followed:
● To be able to contribute in terms of self and in family units (Empathise)
● To be able to reach out to School and Community (Enrich)
● To develop deepened understanding for global issues (Empower)
This is to align with our school’s vision: Inspired by Values to Grow, Lead and Serve with Joy. The program also seeks to remind all staff and students that we are stewards of God’s creation and to conserve the environment for our future generations. We also seek to inspire our students to appreciate and protect the diversity and beauty of the natural world as well as to understand our interdependence with the natural environment.
The school aims to involve all stakeholders and more environmental partners so that we can develop every student to play their part in conserving the environment during their 6-year in GMS(P). The Eco-Committee seeks to look for opportunities to change habits and everyday behaviour through “nudging” – making small changes to the surrounding and lifestyles to help students and staff make the choice to live sustainably.
The team also looks at helping to facilitate circular activity i.e. beyond motivating and guiding students and staff to change their behaviour to be more sustainable, the team also look into making the infrastructure available for the school community to do the necessary. This will help us make sure that products will be used for longer and in smarter ways.
These are some collective ways in which the school will strive towards the goal of showing our care and duty towards the Earth:
1. Refuse usage in order to minimise wastage
2. Reduce the amount of materials we use and waste we produce
3. Reuse materials wherever possible
4. Recycle materials wherever possible
